Forthcoming Festival - Satyanarayan Katha

Namaste

= Celebrating 40th Anniversary (1973-2013) =

Dear Member,
As you all know that we are starting with the Satyanarayan Katha as part of our 40 years of happy existence in Blackburn. We want you to participate in this celebration by registering at least two members of your family to take part in this special Puja Ceremony. It does not have to be a couple but any combination will do. If you are not sure, do give us a ring for advice. We will provide a steel puja-thali, puja samagri, and a murti of Lord Vishnu specially purchased from India for this auspicious day. The Puja thali and the Murti will be yours to keep.

The items that you have to bring on the day is:

  • A small murti of Ganesh, a bunch of flowers (make sure you have at least 1000 petals to offer 1000 names of Lord Vishnu), you will also need a dish to put those flower petals in
  • Some fruits and two cushions to sit on. For those who could not sit on the floor, we will provide tables and chairs to do puja, but do let us know in advance
  • Two 'Patlaas' to place Murti and a kalash, fruit and nuts etc
  • A small plate to do Aarti at the end.(You can decorate it if you wish)
  • One coconut and a glass or ‘Loti’ for water and a spoon
  • Bring Tulsina paan if you have them at home. Bring a little bit of 'Gor' for Ganesh.
  • Tarbhani, it's spoon and a cup (of copper if you have) to carry out puja
  • Three cotton Tea-towels, tissues and some loose change
  • 'Punchamrut' (a mixture of milk, yoghurt, honey, ghee and kesar) in a small cup.

Please Note: The Satyanarayan Katha will be conducted by our very own punditji Shreeman Madhusudan Dave and kindly assisted by Shreeman Ranjitgiri Gonsai for whom we are very grateful to both of them for their services.
